Top-mounted manway with a spring-assisted hinge

Safe opening and closing
Before opening a manway, ensure the tank is in a safe condition. Pressure, vacuum, temperature, chemicals, moving equipment and other process hazards must be addressed under the site’s procedures. A hinge does not make it safe to open a pressurised tank or a tank containing hazardous media.
The operator should stand securely, release the locking devices in a suitable sequence and guide the cover without entering pinch zones. Where required by the design, the cover should be securely retained in its open position.
